Model #01 - The Teapot

Writer's picture: Shalini DuttaShalini Dutta

It looks daunting, but this was probably the easiest way to slide into Blender's controls and learn the basics.

I started by importing this picture and tracing the image using the cube mesh. Then, by extruding the vertices and resizing them, I could form the basic shape of the teapot. I did not want to dabble in any textures on my first go, so I just slapped a blue colour on the teapot.

This is the final look of the teapot. From the next model onwards, I will record myself working on the models and try to write a bit more to prepare myself for writing any devlogs.

And there you go; I don't think I have anything to say at the moment because I know it doesn't precisely look right, but I am pretty happy that it turned out to be the way it is.

The most important thing I learned is to keep going and working on my models, even if they don't look that good. Being constantly in the process of making these models will naturally help me learn more about the software and challenge me to make bigger rand better things.
